Starch based diet

Where I have I been? What have I been up to? Why have I not posted in so long? Well, to be honest, I got sick of the merry go round. I’ve been looking for total salvation through exercise alone. This doesn’t work. It might work for a while if you are totally untrained or you’re young.  What I have come to accept is that 99.9% of my problem is dietary. I eat too much and even worse all the wrong foods.

My decision was to not blog until I found a dietary path to address my issues. It had to be a viable option. Fruitarian is out.  It’s not sustainable for 99.9% of the population.  Yes it will lean you out and get your blood work in order. Meat diets like Atkins and Paleo are also unworkable. Meat, dairy and oils are toxic. These are the foods that make people fat and sick. Sure you might find some people that thrive on these diets but ONLY, if they calorie restrict.  Most people can’t do it and never feel full or energized when in a state of ketosis. The fattest populations in the world are meat and dairy eaters. Oil is not a health food. It’s a toxic fat.  Animal products and oils cause obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, acid reflux and all sorts of other lifestyle diseases.

Personally I was disgusted with myself and sick and tired of my doctor pushing pills. I thought about my own life and when I was the healthiest and leanest.  From 1989 to roughly 1994 I was lean. I’ll post some old pictures someday. I did a lot of walking, hiking and jogging in those days.  Most of those years I lived in Japan, where my diet was based on rice, white rice to be exact.  I ate some meat in Japan and a lot of fish. There was a 2 year period where I ate no meat, a little skim milk and maybe once a week I would splurge on a pizza. These were my leanest years. My staple at that time was brown rice and whole wheat pasta.

I have come to the conclusion that I do best on a starch based diet. Plenty of vegetables and fruit and lots of starch make up my new way of eating. Potatoes, rice, whole wheat pasta and breads are my staples. I also eat a lot of beans. When I eat like this EVERYTHING improves. I am at a point where I need to set a course for how I plan on living the rest of my life. If I keep eating like I have been, I’ll be dead or worse I’ll be a slave to the sick care system (some call it health care). This is not how I want to live my life.

The best thing about the starch based diet is that I don’t have to starve. Prepared right, the food is also very good. You’ll never be able to replicate the savory flavors of meat and dairy but in time the taste buds adapt. What about just exercising some self-control? Well, we all know my track record on self-control but I am not alone. Look at all the fat asses. I’m an Adonis compared to 99% of American adults. Self-control is not working real well for people. The starch based diet as advocated by McDougal works best. At this point exercise is almost irrelevant, as long as I do something for 30 plus minutes a day. In the upcoming weeks and months, you will be hearing a lot about diet.
